Expert: Kristin Date: 7/6/2008 Subject: Monte 4yrs wheaten bite husband- help
Question Our soft coated wheaten is now 4 years old and his behavior to my husband is becoming aggressive. Today he bite my husband's hand. Monte now growls and behave poorly on the leash.
We're thinking of giving him up. He is also barking constantly !
It maybe too late. If we had company or a grandchild this e-mail wouldn't even be a thought.
Help us if you can
Answer First if he is not neautured getting him down may get rid of the aggression as neautured dogs are less likely to bite
Second it might be a hormone related problem, such as hypothyroidism which does cause sudden aggression out of the blue,so it might be a good idea to take him to the vet to get tested for hypothyroidism
Also it will help greatly to take him to obedience classes right away!!! Trainers can do wonders for dogs,I have seen big dogs, like rottweilers go from attack dogs into gentle pets,so this is the best solution if he is neautured and health problems have been ruled out-trainers can do miracles so take him to training classes before giving him up
