I hope you can help with my query i have a little Jack Russell she is approx 1 Year 7 months she is a rescue dog i have now had her a year she very much has a mind of her own !! i have 2 questions to put to you
She has taken to running away from me ALL the time and hiding when i want to take her out to toilet/walking she hides everywhere and any where and if i go to get her she snarls then looks like she WILL bit me i of course back away and probably look scared but i dont want to as that is not the way i want this (she is the boss no question about it) how can i let her know i only want to put her lead and harness on & not hurt her ? I only end up catching her if i give her a treat & then that doesnt always work so it can take an hour to catch her
The other query is i would like to crate train her, i already feed her in there which is fine most of the time its real cosy with her bedding & water etc and its big enough but not too big as i was told its better if not too big, but she crys and barks her head off if i try and leave her in there for more then 5 minutes, i hate to hear her & fear she may have heart failure if left whilst i pop to the shops !! i know that sounds silly but it really sounds awful to hear her crying like that Is it because she is a rescue dog & thats why she is behaving like she does ?
quite simply its upsetting me alot i hope you can help us get this together before one of us flips !
Kind regards

Answer Well when you send her outside attach a leash to her and just let her drag it,I do that with my own dogs at times and it makes it easier, also taking her to obedience classes will put you in charge
Ok as for the problems you are having with her in the crate there's a product called 'rescue remedy' it's a safe and natural product and you can buy it at any health food store and what you do is put a few drops on a small piece of bread, and that usually calms them down, and if that doesn't work some dogs do have to be medicated, but only under a vet
