About Patti
Expertise
To date, I've owned 7 dogs, all of which have lived into old age. Having cared for them in all stages of life, I feel I can offer sound advice to other pet owners, and people considering getting a dog. I am knowledgeable about the AKC (American Kennel Club) dog breeds, training and exercise, caring for sick and elderly pets, feeding, as well as many holistic treatments pets can benefit from. My only request is that you write me using standard English and punctuation.

Experience
My life experience in this field is more like "on the job training" rather than an actual degree in animal welfare. You may benefit from my experiences over the past 30 years. Aside from the dogs I've owned, I'm also involved in "breed rescue" and have fostered several dogs, all of which have been adopted to wonderful "forever homes". I find helping people who want a dog very rewarding.

My wife and I purchased a "Chinese Foo dog" that came from stock provided by Brad Trom. We became suspicious about the breed after we began investigating its origins. It turns out that ALL references we could find on the web about this breed led back to Brad Trom, who has consistently refused to divulge to us any details about the two bitches and one stud he purports to have obtained from China. My wife speaks and writes Chinese fluently, and her investigation of the breed with Chinese contacts revealed nothing whatsoever. Similar results were obtained with contacts in Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Singapore (i.e., no one knows about this bred or has ever heard of it). We then had a dog DNA analysis performed on our dog by UC Davis. The results were that our dog was a Chow Chow and Siberian Husky mix. We provided the DNA reults to Brad Trom, who refused to discuss them with us. It is our opinion that Brad Trom has perpetrated an elaborate and giant hoax, and that he invented the "Chinese Foo" breed by mixing Chow Chow and Siberian Husky stock. He has made a lot of money with his hoax, and has defrauded many people out of their hard-earned cash. We have reported Brad Trom to the Attorney General's office in Minnesota.

NOTE: THIS BREED APPEARS TO BE A HOAX, AS INDICATED BY GENETIC DNA TESTS CONDUCTED BY UC-DAVIS ON A "CHINESE FOO DOG", WHICH REVEALED THAT THE DOG IN QUESTION WAS A CHOW-CHOW/SIBERIAN HUSKY MIX. MOREOVER, A COMPREHENSIVE INVESTIGATION REVEALED NO INFORMATION REGARDING "CHINESE FOO DOGS" IN ASIA. BUYER BEWARE!

I have done some research on the Chinese Foo and this breeder may be mixing Chows and Huskies and selling them as Chinese Foo. Chinese Foo do exist but are very rare, and as far as I know are at this time only found in China and Canada. I have a Chow/Husky mix and she looks just like the pictures presented as Chinese Foo dogs. Her temperment matches the description as well. However, I ask, did these people get a pet for the joy of having one or as a status symbol? Do you still love and care about your dog now that you know it isn't a rare breed. I know my little lady is a Chow/Husky mix and I and everyone I know delight in her. I even take her to work with me at the law firm where I am employed. I couldn't ask for a better dog. If it really bothers you that much that your dog is not "pure breed", tell people your pet is a Hybred, I do. I tell them it is a Chowsky. You would be surprised how many people ask where they can get one. There is an idea. Start a new breed, Chowskies. You get the best of both breeds, the Chow and the Husky.
