Dogs/smart bump

I used to raise German Shepards, these were some very smart dogs but had no bump at the back of skull. Now I have a Black Lab mix, with a bump on the back of his skull, and he's smarter than any of the shepards I've had. He's intelligent, figures out how to open gates some doors, As far as training goes, within 2 to 3 hours of work, He figured out Heel, sit, stay, lay, took less than a day to lease train him. His memory as far as toys and people is incredible. Tell him to get a certain toy, he gets it. He has a toy box He'll put all his toys in that box on command. And Festus is only 8 months old. I for one believe that bump has something to do with it.

I can answer questions about Gordon Setters specifically, dog breeding, some rudimentary care questions and general training and hunting questions. I cannot answer real medical questions or more complicated bird dog questions.

I have been breeding Gordon Setters since 1975. I have bred countless breed champions, three dual champions and a few field champions. I have put a few obedience titles on my dogs and doen work in the field with them.

I am a member of the Gordon Setter Club of America and a Board member of the TarTan Gordon Setter Club.
