Hello, I am inquiring on behalf of my sponsored son from the DR.  How does he get a certified copy of his birth certificate?  He needs one for a driving license. Thank you. Paula

You should be able to get that from the city or town in which he was born, but I know that can be quite a trick. My best suggestion is to try the Dominican embassy or consulate nearest your location for help. Start here: http://www.domrep.org/
If that doesn't help, type the words "Dominican Republic consulates" into a search engine like Google. It will take a bit of time, I fear, but that's where you need to start. Good luck! -- George
