Question
I will be living in an apartment in Puerto Plata for 5 weeks. I realize I need to drink bottled water. Can I boil water from the water tap and safely wash fruits and vegetables?

Answer
You can, of course, if you maintain the boil for a minute or so, but bottled water is not very expensive, about $1 Canadian or U.S. per gallon, so you may find it easier to buy it. However, you really don't need to boil water for very long. Check out this Web site:
