Question I am traveling from Cabarete to Punta Cana by car. We are landing in the Santo Domingo and then driving to Santiago. From there to Cabarete for a few days. What to you think is the best route along the northern coast to Punta Cana I know it is long drive(8hrs) but is there good nothern route? We have been in this northern coast before( Samana, Nagua Las, Teranes).
Thanks Dan
Answer There is a brand new toll highway that in a virtual straight line from the town of Catey (on the north coast between Nagua and Sanchez) straight down to just west of Santo Domingo airport. The toll fee adds up to about US$10. This is the easiest and most pleasant route to take from Cabarete to Punta Cana.
From Cabarete head east to Catey (2 hr drive), then head south to Sto Domingo (1 hr app) then head east to Punta Cana (app 3 hrs).
