Dominican Republic - looking for long term rental

Expert: Tim Hall - 9/9/2009

Question
Hi Im looking for a long term rental in the north shore area (cabarete) if available and will be coming to view places in November, but I'm trying to find a place on line to begin my search so I can start planning things. Prices are so diverse,I'm not sure which site I should follow, if any. Im looking to rent for a minimum of 6 months, and plan to buy eventually. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thank u!

Answer
If you're going to live there you're going to want to like it, right? So then you should see it first. I recommend shopping and lining up options online but not committing until you can get down and really look around. For your first week in town, reserve a reasonably priced room in a good central place in Cabarete such as at http://www.citadelsol.com and then start your shopping. Give yourself time to understand where you are and who you are dealing with. Your plan to come on a scouting mission is a very good idea. Use whatever you find on the internet simply as very initial points of departure... I'm sure you'll find several things you like within just a few days of being here, checking supermarket notice boards, asking people in local hangouts, etc...
