Answer Hi Rene`
Good question and a tough one I might add!
Jerry Obern Scheff, American bass guitarist perhaps best known for his work with Elvis Presley in the early 1970s as a member of his TCB Band. He also worked with my late and good friend John Denver. Worked also with Elvis Costello, Bob Dylan to name just a couple. He has a web site http://www.jerryscheff.com/
LA Woman was the 6th and final album released by The Doors with Jim on lead vocals. It was recorded during the months of December 1970 and January 1971. I have often been asked by those less informed, why LA Woman (the song) is never heard on any “live” Doors albums. The answer is simple, LA Woman the album was released in April of 1971 and debuted on Billboard charts at number #68. Jim Morrison had followed Pamela Courzon to Paris in around February of 1971 and never returned to US shores and was never to sing with The Doors again. As he of course died in the early hours of July 3 1971.
The LA Woman sessions featured Jim Morrison, Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger, John Densmore plus Jerry Scheff and Mark Benno. Bruce Botnick produced the album.
Now, getting to your question. I have no doubt that there are photographs of that time in the studio, finding them in such a short space of time is a different matter. I will say this however that any Doors memorabilia is hard to find. It is either owned by private collectors who are not going to part with it, on loan to places like The Hard Rock Café’s or it is fake. The Doors and Jim Morrison were an enigma in a musical sense and left with an early legacy for their time, hence Doors pictures etc in original condition are highly sought after and expensive.
Do you have anything from The Doors, a poster even from a concert that might be just as easy to get signed.
Otherwise quickly check with the guys over on the official Doors page and message board they may have something on offer.
I hope this of help Rene` and best wishes on your upcoming meeting with Jerry Scheff.
Regards, Jay Dixon (JD)Melbourne Australia
P.S. You can try Google and search for pics then print one off to be ready to sign
