Question IS it possible to go into the room where Jim died? I have looked everywhere for this answer and all I find are pics form outside the building. Is it basically the same inside as when Jim stayed there or totally differnt. I would think this room would be a huge tourist attraction.

I wondered the same thing on my first trip to Paris. After much effort in locating Jim’s grave at Père Lachaise, I entertained the idea of locating his last apartment and checking it out. However my lack of the French language and time beat me as I had to fly a long way home to Australia.
Story goes like this. Pamela Courson arrived first in Paris on February 14th 1971 and upon Jim’s recommendation she initially stayed at the Hôtel Georges V whilst she searched for an apartment.
Pam met Elisabeth Lariviere (a model) and her American boyfriend who agreed to rent them an apartment at Rue Beautreillis No. 17. Jim arrived on the 11th of March 1971 and they both lived briefly at Hotel Georges V in Avenue Georges V, they moved into No.17 Rue Beautreillis a week later.
I was last in Paris only a few years back and at that point the apartment was indeed still there but occupied. I didn’t enquire further but I was informed that it was now a block of luxury apartments that you can stay in. The façade (at that point anyway) was original but the insides of all the units including Morrison’s had been modernised, like yourself I would have wanted to see inside as it was in 1971 and upon hearing that I sort of lost interest and did not push the point. One thing I did notice however was that people I did ask, were very reluctant to even acknowledge that Morrison had ever lived there! It was like they wanted to put people off the scent and not draw attention to the fact, probably because they didn’t want hordes of people treating the place like a shrine and causing damage like they do at the cemetery.
That’s about all I can tell you about the place at this time, hope it helped.
