Doors, The (Jim Morrison) - Robbie Krieger's 1968 Hollywood Bowl rig

Expert: JayDixon - 4/18/2009

Question
Hi. Thanks for your help. My question is: what is the "wall of Acoustic amps behind Robbie during the '68 Hollywood Bowl performance"? I can see that they're Acoustics, with the folded horn tweeter but, any clue as to amp series and how many he had chained together?

Answer
Phil.

Thanks for the question.

Robbie has used a number of amps over the years and hard to keep track of them
During the early years of The Doors he was using solid state amps made by ACC (Acoustic Control Corporation) he used the Acoustic 260 Head and the 261 Cabinet. He also used Fender Twin Reverb amps for a long time, now I believe he uses the Fender Blues DeVille with 4x10 speakers.

I will have to inquire as to how many he used at the Hollywood Bowl in 1968, I might have a contact who could know otherwise you have me stumped on that one. If I get a definitive answer I’ll forward the information on to you.

Cheers,

Jay Dixon
