AboutMark Campbell Expertise I am a freelance writer and huge "Doctor Who" fan. I have seen pretty much
every episode that exists, and am familiar with the plots and production
details of the series as a whole. I possess every issue of "Doctor Who
Magazine", every Target novelization, and a range of the best reference
works. I am confident that I should be able to answer any specific queries
quickly and accurately. I have written a book called "Pocket Essentials:
Doctor Who" (ISBN 1903047196, £2.99), out now. I also have a
website called "Skonnos", which features interviews, articles and reviews.
The only areas I don`t cover are fan-produced spin-offs and new book
adventures.
Experience I am a freelance writer and have written articles on "Doctor Who" for "Midweek" magazine, "The Bookseller" and "The Independent" newspaper. I have a website called "Skonnos" (http://freespace.virgin.net/mark.campbell10/index.htm) which contains many interviews I have conducted with the production team and actors, as well as reviews and articles. I have also written a reference book for Pocket Essentials, called, unsurprisingly, "The Pocket Essential Doctor Who" (£3.99, ISBN 1903047196).
Question Thoroughly enjoyed reading your Pocket Essentials Doctor Who Episode Guide. Will there be an updated version released soon as my copy ends with 'The Runaway Bride'? And i wanted to know what the ratings were for 'Evil Of The Daleks' as this has been omitted from my copy. Lastly, a suggestion; i would love to see a future volume that not only tells us the ratings for each story but which also indicates what number in the ratings the story or episode actually reached. Might be particularly interesting given that the programme recently achieved its first ever 'number one'!
Answer Dear Ian,
Thankyou very much for your question, and for your perceptive comments about my book. I will make sure that the 'Evil' rating goes into any future edition. (It's 6.43m by the way!) As to chart position, I could try and sneak that in too.
I hope there will be a new edition - I ask my publishers about it on a fairly regular basis! Certainly there's lots more that could go in now. But it's all a question of sales, whether they have sold out all the old editions, so when and until that happens, I really can't give you a definite answer.
By all means email me at mark.campbell10@virgin.net in a few months time to see if the situation has changed.
