About Mark Campbell
Expertise
I am a freelance writer and huge "Doctor Who" fan. I have seen pretty much every episode that exists, and am familiar with the plots and production details of the series as a whole. I possess every issue of "Doctor Who Magazine", every Target novelization, and a range of the best reference works. I am confident that I should be able to answer any specific queries quickly and accurately. I have written a book called "Pocket Essentials: Doctor Who" (ISBN 1903047196, £2.99), out now. I also have a website called "Skonnos", which features interviews, articles and reviews. The only areas I don`t cover are fan-produced spin-offs and new book adventures.

Experience
I am a freelance writer and have written articles on "Doctor Who" for "Midweek" magazine, "The Bookseller" and "The Independent" newspaper. I have a website called "Skonnos" (http://freespace.virgin.net/mark.campbell10/index.htm) which contains many interviews I have conducted with the production team and actors, as well as reviews and articles. I have also written a reference book for Pocket Essentials, called, unsurprisingly, "The Pocket Essential Doctor Who" (£3.99, ISBN 1903047196).

Dr. Who - jon pertwee

Expert: Mark Campbell - 5/21/2009

Question
hello, this might be a bit of a hard question to awnser, but here it goes.

its about jon pertwees autograph. maybe you happend to write to him before he died?

ive seen signed pictures from him over the years that people have got from him by writing to him. these pictures arnt signed by jon but he has wrote on them.

the autograph its self is a pre print but he seems to add things like DOCTOR WHO, or THE 3RD DOCTOR, insted of signing.

do you happen to know why he did this? as most celebs just sign there name.

bit of a long shot, but i couldnt find any info about this on the web.

Answer
Dear Martin,

Thankyou for the question.

Sorry, but I'm afraid I can't help you with this one. Presumably these were publicity photos with a pre-printed autograph on them, to which Jon added his own personalized dedication. You might like to contact The Stamp Centre on The Strand, London, as they are the experts on DOCTOR WHO autographs - they might know more. You can phone them on 0800 975 4581 (freephone) or visit their website at www.scificollector.co.uk.

Good luck!

Best wishes,

Mark Campbell
