Question
Hi. I have read some of the answers you gave to questions and I found them quite good. They have answered some of the questions on my mind.
I visited one of the blogs you referred someone to and I saw beautiful character drawings. My question is how do you draw a character more than once and make it look like the same character? Also, I am interested in drawing portraits, could you give me tips on improving?

Thanks.

Answer
Glad that you are Reading the other questions and hope I can answer yours.
You asked about drawing characters ad making them look the same. How do I do it? its HARD!! but they train you to do this i animation. It's called drawing on model. Thesecret if there is one, is just simple concentration, paying attention to every line. Its a skill you develop by constant practice drawing the same thing over and over again until you really KNOW the character. Animators also trace their work on lightfaces ad tracing paper to ensure its right.Dont be fooled though. "just because you're tracing" does NOT mea that your drawing will look the same as the one you're tracing. Tracing takes a LOT of concentration to make sure you control your drawing hand so that the lie thickness is the same throughout. Again, it comes with practice .
One last thing is that you MUST TAKE YOUR TIME. Don't be in a hurry to finish the drawing. Enjoy each step of the process.
If you want to do portraits,  my best advice is to start doing them. Art is a solitary learn by DOING skill. Don't let anyone tell you different. You must put in your time and not give up. You will improve with practice.
Get a hold of a copy of DRAWING on the RIGHT side of the BRAIN. I recommend this book to everyone who asks and once you read it you will see WHY I do this. It is the umber one book for actually teaching you how to draw.
