Question I've been back in school full-time for the last 1 1/2 and I am very frustrated and tired of it already. This is my second deree that I am working on. Not to mention that I have been back at home living with my parents. And I really want to move out and change schools.
Last night I had a dream that I was walking down a stairway down a hill and there was like a wide river of murky water next to me. As I looked down I noticed another river at the bottom of the stairs. The river down below had very fast moving turbulent and dangerous currents and the water was murky. So I continued walking down the stairs because I knew I had to and on occasion some of the water next to me would get on my feet and I just remember being kinda grossed out because the murky water was touching my feet. So then I reached the bottom of the stairs and notice that the dangerous water that I saw from the top of the hill didn't look so bad because I saw a paved street going through the water so that I could get to the other side. As I was walking across the street there was just a little water that touched my feet.
After crossing the river this is where it gets kinda of weird, now I have to walk up a hill and I have to talk to someone at my school because I needed directions to get back to my car because I was lost and didn't know how to get back to my car, which was back at the beginning of my dream, the top of the hill where I had to climb down all of those stairs. So the lady gave me a phone book and I looked up the taxi company number. I called the taxi to come and get me to drive me back to my car. At that point I realized that I was in a different state from where I am orginally from.
Answer Good morning, Lisa.
"One more river to cross" is a phrase which indicates that your journey is not over. This would seem to relate very closely to your school situation - you are feeling as if you should be done with it by now, but you have to get across that river.
When you looked at the river from afar, it seemed too dangerous - maybe too difficult to cross. You have a destination in mind, but it has seemed so far away for a long time. Now that you're getting closer to the end of your journey, you're starting to see that you can accomplish what you set out to do.
I also should remind you that water is a very emotional element, and when water is in our dreams then it's calling attention to an emotional situation. Your river probably has more to do with feelings that are getting in the way, more than any other obstacle. Possibly this has to do with the frustration of living with your parents. Your dream is showing you that the end is in sight if you stay on the path.
The car is a different situation. We tend to associate our cars with our personal freedom. You gave up a great deal of personal freedom when you started your studies, and when you made the decision to stay with parents. You may need help to regain your sense of autonomy - and you can do it - but the dream seems to say that you should probably concentrate on completing the task at hand first.
