About Russell
Expertise
I am not a dream Interpreter, I specialize in lucid dreams. With this being said please don't ask me any questions about what your dreams mean. All dream interpretation questions will be rejected. Lucid dreams are when you realize that you are in a dream. Once you realize that you are dreaming, you can control and manipulate your dreams. I can answer questions regarding lucid dreaming, false awakening, paralysis sleep, and reality testing. I cannot answer questions regarding out of body experience.

Experience
When I was a little kid I would have 1-2 lucid dreams a year that I could control. As I got older I would have about 3-5 lucid dreams every year, but now I am averaging about 4-5 lucid dreams every month.

Dream Interpretation - lucid nightmares

Expert: Russell - 9/5/2009

Question
Hi, I've viewed your past answers to learn about lucid dreaming, but seven out of ten times, I'm lucid while in a nightmare.  But once I realize that I'm in a dream, i still can't alter the dream to make it less scary.  Only once have I been able to alter while in a nightmare, was when hogs were chasing me, and I turned around and kicked them all to mars. But being lucid in a nightmare is terrifying. But I don't want to stop lucid dreaming, I want to know how to alter those kinds of dreams.

Answer
Their are a few techniques that you can use to alter those kinds of nightmares; however, during very intense nightmares, these techniques may not work, which means you will have to wait until the nightmare is over to wake up. I am referring to the dreams when you have several false awakenings into a dream and the dream repeats itself over and over again.

Spinning technique:
This works by spinning your body round and round. This will often change the whole dream scenery and what ever was chasing you or scaring you will be gone.

Turn enemies into objects:
Instead of fighting them, which often fails, try to turn them into objects or friendly animals. You can do this by using to techniques. Focus on the guy that's chasing you and think about changing it into a object or animal. Just concentrate on changing the bad guy and it should work. You can also think about the bad guy disappearing and it should disappear. The other way is to say it out loud. For example: "I want to change you into a bird."

Warp to a different area:
Just say you want to warp to a different place, and you will disappear from that area and warp hopefully to a more peace full dream.

If possible try to physically wake up:
This is usually possible in a regular lucid dream and sometimes possible in a nightmare. Open your eyes, and then try to wake up from the dream.

I hope this tips works for you. If you have any more questions feel free to contact me.
