Subject: Javascript Error

Question
Hi,
I have Dreamweaver CS3, every time the mouse goes over the edit menu, this error appears and I have to click on the window several times

The following javascript error occurred: Unable to open script file “Macintosh HD:Applications:Adobe Dreamweaver CS3:Configuration:Shared:MM:Scripts:insertFireworks HTML.js” (error 2)

This also happens when I try to copy and paste.  How do I get rid of this? Please help!

Answer
Hi Rachel,

Did you load CS3 over a previous version of CS2 or other older Macromedia programs? It sure sounds like issues arising out of a multiple version environment.  There have been on-going issues very similar which Adobe is aware of and they are trying to address these problems.  In the meantime (as painful as it is) my suggestion would be to uninstall ALL Adobe and Macromedia programs.  Then go to this tutorial
http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb402214

and follow the steps to load ONLY the most recent version of the applications you need.  This should resolve the strange behavior you are witnessing.  Best of luck.
