Drums & Percussion - Need to find Accessory Boom Attachment for 1 1/8" Rack Tube

Expert: the - 11/6/2009

Question
I have a set of Verve Conga drums.  The boom attachment for raising and lowering the conga drums has broken.  The stand is still good, but I cannot find this fitting.  The lower rack tube is 1 1/8" in diameter and the top rack tube is 1".  I have found one that Gibraltar makes, but it fits a 1.5" rack tube (lower) and fits 7/8" (top) tube.  Surely, some company makes this fitting.  Any suggestions would help.

Thank you,

Hal

Answer
Hal,

Verve is a a company only in name.
They are made in some factory either in Taiwan, China, Japan, Indonesia or Thailand.
There are about a dozen names of companies that make either Latin, African or Carribean instruments or accessories.
THere could be 3 or 4 or 5 or more names, that are all made in the same factory.
Of the 10 or 12 names, there could be 3 or 4 different types of stands.
However, those companies do not make replacement parts.
I have looked and have never found anywhere that I could buy them.

If you plan on keeping these congas, I would take the stand to a machine shop and they can make a new fitting.

Hope this helps.
