Hello Jon,

I am left handed and right footed. I tried switching to a left handed set up but my righ foot didn't like playing hi-hat? as is with a lefty playing a right handed kit we push our drum rolls where a right handed person pulls them so to speak. I agree with the answer given here, everybody is different and you need to set up to where you a comfortable or take the time to re-train. I currently play open with my ride next to my hi-hat, it looks strange and cool looking trap set-up does not work for me but I still have a great time. mix things up until you find whats best for you. best of luck to you.
