Drums & Percussion/Vintage Fibes Acrylic Drums

What is your opinion on the original Fibes made in New York? My drum book by Geoff Nicholls says they made the best acrylic kits. Do you agree?

Yes Fibes were probably the best of the acrylic kits---BUT---

They were not acrylic---they were thick plexiglass.

They weighed a ton and were loud as heck.

But being plexiglass, they were also brittle.

The NEW see thru drum kits are acrylic and are a lot stronger--plus
a few of them are seamless.

If Fibes are taken care of and are carried in hard cases, then they should be fine.

Care must also be taken when storing them--no hot storage buildings, garages and attics.

Also, after a gig, do not leave them in a car.

Hope this helps.
