E-Commerce, Web Businesses - domain

Question
Hello

The domain name I have was created when I read back than, that the  "1" in the beginning of the URL, will put you on top of the list in SEO  - what a mistake.  However, can I purchase another domain name and direct/share the 2 URL's   so that I can still keep the current old one and gradually switch to the new one.  Please explain.  Also, any recommendation as how to add a shopping cart?  I have a merchant account already - Visa + Matercard .   buy a software, join some program??  looking for an inexpensive solution.  And last one, any good SEO program or advice

Thank you,   Gabe

Answer
Hi Gabe,

glad to be of assistance to you - switching domains can be a bit difficult.  You can do a "forward" of your old domain to your new domain, but your old domain will stay in search engines and then clicks will re-direct to new domain.

You also have to be careful of having 2 domains with the exact same content - as search engines may see it as you trying to double your visitors.  It is best to make a 1 page explanation on your old domain, like a news article,  that explains you have a new domain and have a link to the new domain.

As far as a shopping cart, it really depends on your budget, amount of products, etc - but if you are just getting started I would recommend www.prostores.com because it starts at around $10usd / mo and you can grow with it to a very large shop.

Mike
