Question
Emmett,

My wife and I want to create a website. We registered our domain name, but want another site to host. To explain, we registered with Intuit, but would like 1&1 to host. How do we go about doing this? Do we need the registering company to host as well?

Answer
If the domain was registered properly in your name, you should be able to host your website anywhere you want. Contact 1and1 on 1-877-GO-1AND1. I use them and have been down for only about an hour twice in 3 years. Their basic website design software that comes with their packages leaves a little to be desired but they have a more advanced package available. Like all hosting companies, industry economics dictate a high ratio of customers to support staff and if you need to contact them frequently, you will experience some frustration in the amount of time that it takes to make contact, but they are normally professional and courteous. That's not to say that you won't run into an individual who brings discredit to his/her company.
