Question
Hi there,
I am recently asked to do some extra research for my company and the area is a bit out of my depth so I am seeking help as I want to save up money and buy my gf a engagement ring, I am not rich or well off and would appreciate your help please:

This is the website: http://www.harveynormanflooring.com.au The company is about offering innovative high quality products from carpet, timber, laminate, rugs, vinyl, vinyl tiles to allow customers to find the right flooring solutions to their home.

I want to get higher rankings in the search engine for people living in Australia.
So basically I’d like to know:

-What search phrases can I use to optimize the website?
-For the home page what I can basic SEO can I implement?

If you have time:
Also another question, on what basis should search phrases be chosen i.e. is there any rule that should be followed?

Answer
Hi Dane, this is a very long and involved question. The short answer is to use keywords that mimic what you sell. Use your titles of your brands, offerings, etc. AdWords has tools to help with this, so I would recommend you go there. SEO isn't just about the homepage, and it has three considerations overall: inbound link traffic, on the page info, and in the site info. Simply inputting phrases won't help much. If you're trying to tackle SEO as a practice, I recommend you go to searchenginewatch.com and also connect/join SEMPO and go to your local meeting...that's the best place to start. Or you can reach out and pay someone for optimization - google for optimizers, ask for recommendations from others, or ask SEMPO.
