Question
hi, i am planning on starting a dating website online such as www.plentyoffish.com, but creative in my own way. I would like to be self employed and make a decent living and i think this would be a great way. I am 20years old and have looked into numerous businesses but i took interest into this field. The problem is I have grade 12 education and I have not went to unviresity for computers yet. Once I have the site made proffesionally, how hard do you think it is to manage the website?

Answer
Navi,

I would make sure you have a list of all you will need to manage, change and update and see if this can easily be achieved with the potential website designer.

But one thing to look into - you may possibly be able to learn what you need to know to create this on your own with an easier, modular system for building a website called Wordpress - see both wordpress.org and wordpress.com

There you will find tutorials, forums and support groups and from it, many Add-ons which may allow you to do anything you plan with your website.

Dating is as you may know and very popular and successful business on the internet, with a large number of sites.
If you bring a special spin, flavour and purpose to your site and the service it provides, to distinguish it, you may do very well.

Do realize that starting an internet business does take a tremendous amount of promoting, pushing - marketing it.

Good luck

Hope this helps a bit.

Best wishes
Roger

Helping small companies ensure their website has the right approach for greatest success in appealing to visitors, customers. Promotion effectively via the internet (but can answer only 1 or 2 specific questions at a time, here!). We know what works and what does not. We need a description of the website and the business it is serving (or intends to). I will try to proffer advice that bridges the gap between the "tech" or "IT" people and those with less of a technical approach. If you have the idea and are business-savvy - but the "newspeak" of high technology gets you down, you`ve come to the right place!
