Question Hello. I am reading a book on affiliate marketing and am saving for a website regarding Debt Credit Repair or Online Drugstore portal. I am in the beginning just hunting for ideas and do some affiliate sales with a site I am planning to launch in about 4 to 5 months. Can one really make money with affiliate marketing? How do I come up with content? How can you market a site like this? Any advice would help.

This question needs market research to see if it is viable. Affiliate Marketing is based on the ability to get CTR that leads to actual sales. You need to select a portal/name and content to deliver to an audience that is interested in the information and product(s) that you would be exposing and cross selling as an affiliate to them. This means defining your target audience, demographics, size of audience and how you will get them to come to your site. You will need to spend an enormous amount of time in the beginning building up traffic to the site with online marketing techniques such as SEO, Social Marketing and or email and offline strategies. Affiliate Marketing is based in your sites traffic and the CTR that lead to actual sales.
A few tips.
1. When you select a name for the portal consider how much time and or the cost of developing content. Write up a yearly plan with the hours you will spend or the cost to fulfill on the content.

2. This is very important. When you select a name for the portal do a key word analysis. Start with googles key word tool. It will show you how many people are searching the term. This will give you an idea of how many people are searching the term/name and will help you select a name that will give you organic traffic.

3. Write up a plan for generating traffic to the site. Include all costs and time alloted for developing a marketing plan. Define both the sites objectives as far as content and audience as well as how you will build traffic with SEO, Social Marketing etc...
4. Also consider the time it will take you to develop your Affiliate relationships. You will want want to work with companies and individuals that add value to your site. This will also take time. Build a plan and schedule for doing this.
Affiliate marketing is not the only solution to making money online. It is usually just one piece of the puzzle. An information or product portal can also have a sponsor such as a pharmaceutical company or even a bank. Many businesses use a portal to even sell or market their own business services or products through or sponsor other sites to develop their product brands exposure and brand image.
