Question
QUESTION: I have started our site and was hoping to find a reputable web traffic company.  I hear so many freebies and such but I'm afraid of getting taken for a ride.  I would like to find the best resource for us to get web traffic to our site that will purchase.  We've had close to 500 unique visitors and not one sale.  Could you help steer me in the right direction?  Thanks!  Karrie

ANSWER: Hello Karrie,

The best traffic you can get is through Pay Per Click advertising. There are 3 major PPC networks, listed below according to popularity:
1. Google Adwords - https://adwords.google.com
2. Yahoo Marketing Solutions - https://marketingsolutions.yahoo.com
3. Microsoft Adcenter - https://adcenter.microsoaft.com

PPC advertising is cost-effective because people click on ads you post as they search for certain keywords. These are people looking for specific information and most probably are ready to make a purchase. You only pay when a searcher clicks on your ad, which can be as little as .05 cents per click. PPC advertising is focused and targeted.

The only difficulty in this form of advertising is that you need to know how to do it well, especially if your site is offering popular products or services as you will have competitors bidding for the same keywords and you might lose a lot of money.

A good resource on PPC advertising and one who is considered an expert on this field is Perry Marshall. You can access his website through this link:

Another resource is Beating Adwords:

One tip: When setting up a PPC campaign don't just place your site's home page as the destination URL, but place individual products as your destinations.

Hope that helps. Don't hesitate to email me again if you have further inquiries. I'll only be too glad to help.

To your success,
Dean

QUESTION: Am I correct in staying away from the freebie search engine submitting companies?  Also is pay per click the best?  I've heard it's a lot of wasted invested money.

Thanks so much!

Answer
Not really. It's good to submit your site to the different search engines but, unless your site is optimized, it would be difficult to have your site come up in the first 3 pages when a surfer searches for your site's keywords.

Also, the freebie SE submitter has to be a legitimate one, otherwise you're in danger of your email address being sold to spammers. If you do want to submit yor site to search engines and directories, here's a good resource:

Again, your best bet of getting targetted traffic is PPC. The reason why many people have experienced wasted invested money is because they don't know how to use PPC. There is a learning curve, which is not really difficult. But when learned can spell much profit for you.

Check out the resources I gave you in my last email. They'll make you a marketing expert in no time.

If you wish to email me privately, you can do so with dfmapa@smoothbytes.com

Hope to hear from you soon.

Warm regards,
Dean
