Question Hi Dean...after over 15 years of Mature marketing (creating expos, hotlines, magazines), I am now a web creator. Prototype is simple: e-magazine in front which is really just getting started and has many new columns and feature stories coming in, plus Professional Resource Directory in back where businesses of all types and sizes can profile themselves to interested prospects.
A) What is your initial reaction
B) What do you think of RSS news feeds from ABC television or one of the others for our In The News Section. One of our team believes that with regular news stories, people will leave the site and not revisit.
I am not sure, but I think it adds to the stickiness of coming to our site? Any comments.
Thanks. s.cutler@matureresoures.net PS We are also adding some affiliates and new discounted health plans that have recently been developed, plus a free online shoppig spree for our newsletter sign-ons...any ideas for more revenue streams...
Answer Hello Sharon,
At first glance I immediately liked your site. It's neat, pleasing to the eyes and with no frills. It's what a baby boomer like me would appreciate.
As for RSS news feeds, as long as the news relate to what your site is offering, there will be stickiness. So I suggest you keep the news feed narrow and focused. RSS is becoming more popular now, so I would also suggest you offer your own RSS feed wherein people can get short updates about your site. One RSS service I use is KlipFarm at http://www.klipfarm.com
Another suggestion is placing a ready subscription form on your home page wherein visitors can immdiately type in their e-mail address and name. Place this at the top of the right column.
Also, since you sell advertising space and offer parnership, it would be good to offer a media kit that can inform would-be advertisers and partners all about buying into your site. This can be in pdf form and "downloadable."
I congratulate you for a site well done! I, for one, will be a regular visitor. If you accept articles, let me know. I'm first an inspirational writer before an online marketer.
