Question
HERE'S MY QUESTIO: I have been #1 in my particular category (see www.

dmoshe.addr.com), but I need to make major changes to the site now (it

is over 5 years old).
There is an "Enter" button on home page which brings one to the site.

Is it be possible for the "Enter" button to link to another site

completely, which is the new site?
Would Google still pick up the other pages as they always did
before and not penalize me for the link.  After all the "Enter" button

could just be a link to some other site I happen to affiliated with.  I

assume I may have to have some entry way from that page to the other

pages, but that could be through some invisible button, for example.

Answer
Hi David,

Good questions. Simply answered, yes, it would. The more relevant content on your site (same domain) the more preference Google places on your site. So if you change the enter link to another domain, Google will most likely see your first page as a door way page and not give you the same level of priority as before. Google will most likely push the home page further down in the ranking and display the other site with higher ranking.

Hope this helps,

All the best.
