E-Commerce, Web Businesses - Title Tag

Expert: Ezra Silverton - 6/15/2006

Question
I’m trying to decide the best format for the Title Tag on my product pages.  I have heard that you only want to put the name of the product nothing more.  Some say to incorporate the name of your company to build name recognition.  If I reference my company should I reference it by the standard name format (Serenity Supply) or should I format it in the form of my domain name (SerenitySupply.com).

Please let me know which is the best Title Tag format:

1. Product Name Only

2. Product Name available at Serenity Supply

3. Product Name available at SerenitySupply.com

Your help is most appreciated!

Answer
Hi Brian,

The answer will depend on how important branding is to you. The more important, the more focus you would put on it in your title tag. If you decide to put your name in your title tag, use the format that is consistent with all your marketing initiatives. Don't worry too much about the format from a SEO perspective.

Regards,

Ezra Silverton
Marketing Director
