We need a description of the website and the business it is serving (or intends to).
I will try to proffer advice that bridges the gap between the "tech" or "IT" people and those with less of a technical approach.

Question How can I find out about the reliability and effectiveness of the .com companies that guarantee to send 25,000 or 50,000 or 100,000 visitors to my Website in a one-month period for a fee? I have an unusual Christian Website that does not fit into the standard search categories. It is www.guide-to-funding-ministry.net. Thank you.

It is sad to have to be sceptical about the large claims that a person or some companies make. I am however, very doubtful that these companies deliver in this promise....if they do it is likely that the thousands of visitors you would get would be "unqualified" meaning that they may have no interest whatesoever in the subject matter and content of your website.
Now if the cost of each thousand visitors starts to be 50 dollars and upwards, then It may be possible that the visitors would in some way have been pre-selected and interested in your site.
There are many charleton compnaies offering to get visitors to websites, listings in search engines and so on. Only a minority of ethical, effective and beneficial to your business.
There are a lot of questions to ask to check this.
One good step to start with is to locate other companies who have used the srrvices of the companies you are considerening, and ask them whether they received what was promised.
