Question Hi, I have a 2 part question, the first question is made up of 3 subsections and the second question is separate
My site is www.eventchoice.com.au
I am thinking of updating it in 3 ways and was hoping to gain your opinion on
these methods!
Firstly, I am thinking of adding flash components to it such as an intro and
flash pages when people click the tabs. Do you think this will be
helpful/beneficial to this type of business website?
Secondly, I am thinking of adding audio links for the testimonials so people can
actually hear a real voice giving the testimonial. Would this be something
people would appreciate in your opinion?
Thirdly, I am thinking of adding a video of myself on the first page speaking
about what the site does and how I can help the potential customer as an upfront
and personal look into my business. I was thinking that if people can see and
hear me speaking to them, it would help in converting more into customers.
Secondly, I wanted to ask you a question about website traffic research. I have seen on alexa.com that they are able to determine how many visitors are coming to a website from certain countries, regions etc.
What I want to know is, is it possible to determine how much traffic is coming to a site from certain marketing avenues? For example, if I had a site which used google pay per click, organic search engine seo, blogging, yellow pages online and affiliates would it be possible to find out how much of my traffic was coming from each of these sources?
I hope you can help me out with either of these areas, cheers!!
Answer Brad,
Regarding flash, I would definitely NOT use it as an intro. That irritates people. flash can add motion and interactivity to your site, which can be good. Just don't use it for the sake of using it.
Instead of adding testimonial audio - make it video, or audio connected with a still photo of the customer. That would be a very good addition. Adding a video of you seems like the right thing to do, but I would avoid it. I would keep the site customer-centric and focus on your services and how customers like them.
Lastly, regarding webstats, most webstats can track who the referring site is. Check with your hosting provider. If they do offer the service, see if you can install a free service, like Analog (http://www.analog.cx/).
