it might be somewhat naive to ask this but i've always wondered about the way that companies that offer seemingly free services(free email, free blog, free forum, free upload, freeware, podcasts..)make money? more precisely the tv and radio?how exactly do they profit?

Answer It's all about advertising and getting the word out to people for advertising revenue in exchange. Internet free offers will virtually always get you on a number of spam lists so it's not a bad idea to use a dedicated email address just for such offers and your reg. mail on an email acct you don't give out to everyone.
