Experience If your Eagle is broke, ask. Well versed in 1980 thru 1988 models. Currently own 2 eagles an 85 and an 87. The 87 is all original and the 85 has a 318 V-8, 600 holley and YES the 4x4 works.

Question I have an automatic 94 Eagle Talon with about 120,000 miles on it. The transmission doesn't shift gears at all. It's been slowly going towards this. Before it completely went to every gear being neutral...the car would shift in and out of gear while i was driving. When I would start it up, no matter how much gas I gave it and no matter how high the RMP's shot up, it would only kinda coast along. It would like maybe 2mins until it would drive normal. Before this, it didn't really shift hard at all, it had before but that was because the engine mounts were bad (and it was only during downshifts) If the tranny is shot, what is the normal life of an automatic 94 eagle talon. I have found a replacement for it but it has over 100,000 miles. I don't want to be running into the same problem a few thousand miles down the road. Please help fast, I don't have long till the tranny might be gone
Answer Your making a HUGE MISTAKE putting in a used transmission. You have NO CLUE as to what the internal condition IS of this USED transmission except what the seller tells you and this is dangerous as the seller only wants to sell it to you with NO WARRANTY.
Plus you have the HUGE expense of installing it and if this USED trans turns out to be faulty or fails shortly, You have to start all over again.
I STRONGLY suggest that you have yours professionally rebuilt by a reputable facility or purchase one from PHOENIX TRANSMISSION in Arizona. They sell them on Ebay and alot of the people I have talked to who have purchased them were very satisfied.
To have yours rebuilt by a local trans shop expect to pay from $1200.00 to $1800.00 for it of which usually does NOT include the REMOVAL and RE-INSTALLATION.
ALWAYS purchase a NEW or rebuilt torque converter. NEVER EVER reuse the old one for ANY reason.
