Subject: Best way to let a vertical labret grow in?

Question
Hi Brian,

I've had my vertical labret pierced for just over a year now and I'm thinking about letting it grow it. I want to do it in the best, cleanest way possible to prevent any scarring, etc. Do you have any suggestions or tips on how I could do this?

Thanks a lot,
Kristin

Answer
Removal should allow it to shrink and minimize naturally. If you use an emollient oil or over the counter scar treatment gel such as Mederma you may be able to minimize the mark. After you bathe, you can rinse, dry and massage your scar with an oil such as Cocoa Butter, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, or Jojoba oil. You are likely to find that the skin is smoother and more elastic after a few days of this. Several weeks or months may be needed for the maximum effect.
