Expert: Brian Skellie Date: 5/29/2008 Subject: My Cartilage piercing
Question It is a thursday and i got my cartilage pierced the saturday before so about 5 days ago.
My friend who has had her cartilage pierced 3 times gave me some information. I didnt get it pierced with a piercing earring; its just a regular stud. She told me that its probably gonna get infected because the bar isnt long enough to move back and forth to clean properly. Before she said this i figured i was cleaning properly.
i clean it about 3 times a day by putting the solution on a q-tip and cleaning around on the front and back. Today on accident somebody hit it and it is pink, throbbing, and a little warm. Can you please answer me and telL me if it is going to get infected me or if i am at risk? k thanks [=
Answer It sounds like you may have irritated it, and it would be susceptible to infection at this point. http://piercing.org/shop has safer, easy to clean titanium posts that work better than old fashioned studs for healing in cartilage. http://piercing.org/pexy/recovery/recovery.html can help you with gentle care that can get you back on track. Many people can soothe the area with a good cleaning and an ice pack.
