Question
i have gotten my belly button  pierced about two weeks ago (april 17th) and lately i have notived that both the top & the bottom holes have a small purple ring around them. i'm currently wearing a 14g surgical steel ring. i don't know what to do. i went to my piercer & he said that i's normal & to keep washing it with the sea salt solution. i'm so confused. am i doing something wrong? also everytime i clean it  a little skin starts to peel. it dosen't hurt & theres no more discharge i was just wondering what's up with it. thank youu.

Answer
It would be a very good idea to change the jewelry to a titanium internally threaded curved barbell post with anodized color and small ends. Steel tends to irritate many people. www.piercing.org/faq/jewelry.html explains this in detail.

The sooner you change, the easier your body will be able to return to normal color and texture.
