Question
I got my belly button pierced around easter. the piercer told me i could change it within a month if it looked healed. I waited till about my birthday which was may 13th. Last week sometime it started to develop a pussbubble around the bottom hole. Is it infected? what do i do?

Answer
It is probably infected, and a month is pretty soon to change a navel piercing. What you put in the piercing may not have been appropriately sterilized jewelry with a proper surface finish, and both of those issues can cause what you describe. It would likely be best to consider changing back to the original piece to finish your healing, and to compare to make sure that your jewelry is safe quality. http://piercing.org/faq/jewelry.html describes safety standards in detail. Safe examples are at http://piercing.org/shop/

Gentle care and frequent dry hot compresses as described at http://piercing.org/pexy/recovery/recovery.html can help you get back to normal in the meantime.
