Question i am going to pierce my ear at home and going to use a safety pinn and I was wondering if i sterilize it and everything will it be fine and if i doctorate alot and take care of it oh yea also i am going to be going to the beach is it going to be ok to get in the ocean water like galveston that is where i am going to be going....
Answer Self piercing could be less risky than piercing at the mall where you would be exposed to the blood of many other people, but it is not advisable. Open wounds at the beach are also not a great plan, as infection is common.
Realistically, you'll not be able to sterilize things at home, and without appropriate jewelry and autoclave sterilization for everything, you'll most likely have an infection as well as contact dermatitis from the safety pin. It's worth having it done by a professional, that's why we exist. Plus, it helps that our job is to aim well so that the placement comes out correctly.
