Ear & Body Piercing/Blowouts.

Question
Hey, sooo I acquired a blowout in my left ear but don't know when or at what gauge. I recently tried to go from 3/4" to 7/8". The blow out blew out. So gross. My right ear healed lovely and has healed lovely and never looked better.

I KNOW I should downsize but to what size? Is it too late? If I go down to say, 1/2" keep that good ol' flappy skin tucked in while it closes up think that suffice? Cutting ANYTHING is out of the question. Gives me the heebie jeebies.

Thanks!

Answer
Are you near Edmonton? I have a number of colleagues that I could refer you to for a free consultation and excellent jewelry.

In my experience, dropping to a small enough size that the damaged tissue can be rolled and tucked into an eyelet with large flares tends to work with time and patience. 1/8 of an inch is usually too much of a jump for ears. I suggest 1/64 or 1/32 inch increments. (0.5→1mm) http://stretching.piercing.org/ describes a bit more about gently enlarging your lobes when you have recovered.
