Ear & Body Piercing/Tongue piercing

I have this bump in front of my tongue piercing. It doesn't bother me or hurts. I just want to know why is it there? Is it bad? How can I get rid of it?

Hello Traviesa,

From examining your photograph, it appears that the piercing may not be a perpendicular placement -|-]
It seems that it may have been placed at an angle backwards -/-]
This can cause the jewelry to tear forward when friction and motion forces are exerted on it.

It may go away if the jewelry is sized in proportion to the piercing once the swelling and muscle tension has passed. Consider also that it appears your jewelry does not meet the APP minimum safety standards for materials or surface smoothness. http://jewelry.safepiercing.org/ explains more.

You should not have to re-pierce the area, just adapt and upgrade the jewelry.
