Ear & Body Piercing/Septum help??

I had my septum pierced about 4 weeks ago. My piercer flipped it up into my nose after she did it as I asked how long it would be until I could flip it up (I did not expect her to do it there and then). It was pierced slightly crooked...higher on the right side. I have only just managed to flip it out today without any pain and it didn't look bad judging by how crooked it looked flipped up, but the piercing wouldn't hang down straight...it was sitting slightly horizontal out of my nostrils...I'm just wondering if this will go away once I start wearing it out more or if this is a problem I'm stuck with...I have a feeling it's from having it turned up while it was healing, which I've heard is perfectly fine...my boyfriend thinks it's because it was pierced crooked...what should I do?

Hi Natalie,
Septum piercings can be a bit complicated to wear, and heal a little askew in some cases, even if they were pleasing to you at first.

If it was attractive to begin with, I've noted that some can be adjusted if they are a little crooked, either with a custom fit |_| staple shaped retainer that puts pressure in the corrective direction, or by a small roll of sterile gauze in the nostril to put pressure on the jewelry worn each night until it is in the right place.

Experienced colleagues of mine work at http://www.thepiercingurge.com.au/ in Melbourne and might be able to help you out with a consultation in person and corrective piercing measures if needed.
