Ear & Body Piercing/Lobe stretching

Virgin ears pierced at 8G approximately a year ago, got a pack of tapers, thought they would be labled, but they weren't. I massage my lobes with vitamin E oil and push what I believe is the 8G to 6G taper through seamlessly. Should I just wear the 6G for a few months then move to 4G or is it okay to try the 6G to 4G taper? I'm just so confused as to why there was no resistance with the 8G to 6G taper and if that is normal?

Hi Kinzena,

You should be able to progress gently by just purchasing autoclave sterilized larger jewelry and trying it on. Tapered jewelry can aid in the process if used gently over many days/weeks, but simply getting tapered pins will be tearing, not stretching.

Stretching is a natural process aided by gravity and massage. An oil such as jojoba, olive or coconut can help soften the collagen and elastin bonds in the skin and make it easier to stretch if used as a daily massage in the area.
