Question
My daughter who is now 6 had her tonsils removed when she was just 1 month shy of turning 3 yrs old due to repeated strep.  However, she is now on antibiotics AGAIN due to her 4th case of strep this year.  The pediatrician states he believes it is in her sinuses.  When is this going to end?  I was told if I had her tonsils removed, she wouldn't get strep.  I am very frustrated because her immune system is being trashed by antiobiotics and it just becomes a vicious cycle.  After the antiobiotics, her immune system is low, she goes to school, and here we go again - another infection!  I give her acidophilus but apparently that is not working.  I wanted to know if there is anything natural I can give her that will boost her immune system and MAYBE keep this from re-occurring?  Thanking you in advance for your help.

Lisa

Answer
Your daughter should have a thorough evaluation of her immune system, likely to include antibody levels.  She may also need an evaluation for cystic fibrosis.  I would recommend an evaluation by a pediatric ENT specialist.

Hope this helps.  Good luck!
