Question I am currently looking into starting school to get my associates degree in Early Childhood Education and I was just wondering exactly what kind of job can I get with just an associates degree? I love children and want to impact a child's life. Most of the jobs I have been looking at all require a Bachelors degree. I would like to get my associates then start work and continue my education while working. If you could please let me know. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely Ruby
Answer Great question, Ruby!
I did the exact same thing while I was finishing college. I realize times have changed since the 80's, but I would think you could work in a private preschool or day care. Each one is going to have their own set of employment education requirements. If you try a smaller venue, you might have more success. You might also be able to get an Assistant Teacher's position and work into a Teaching position while you are still in school. That might even be a selling point you use in an interview- tell them you are working to finish your degree in education. It would have been at my school! I didn't hire for the degree, I hired for the personality. If they had a degree, that was icing on the cake.
Now, if you want to teach in a public school, you WILL have to have a MBA if not a Master's degree before you can begin teaching. Just remember that every place is different-- and don't give up! You are in a worthy profession! Much success to you!
