Question what is the evolutionary advantage of ritual behavior?
Answer Well, if ritual behavior helps a species to survive and propagate, it is an evolutionary advantage. For instance, when dogs walk in circles before they lay down is thought to be them making sure that there aren't any snakes or other critters underneath them before they bed down. This ritual was advantageous to dogs so that they didn't get bit or hurt before laying down.
I hope that this helps, and if I didn't answer your question please send a followup.
