Question My daughter and I are traveling to Italy in October. Should we exchange some of our US Dollars for Euros now or wait till closer to time of the trip? If we purchase travel cards or travelers checks now, do we secure a better exchange rate?
What does the future exchange rate look like? Is there anyway to predict what the rate will be in a few months?
Thank you.
Answer Thank you for your query. If we knew exactly how the exchange rate will evolve, we would be multibillionaires. Hard variable to predict. From the economic stand point the Euro is still going strong. Europe may be falling in a slump too. I really do not know how much money you are talking about and cannot venture a financial advice on the matter. You may want to follow the Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg that publish series of exchange rates. In my opinion, I do not think the dollar will strengthen against the euro significantly any time soon.
