Question
I would like to know what Rs 60,000 would have been worth in GBP in 1866 (i.e. both values in 1866 [or as close as possible]terms, and what the modern value of 1866 Rs. 60,000 is (i.e. what Rs 60,000 in 1866 would be worth today in modern GBP).

If the info is not from 1866, but a close year, could you let me know which year the information is being based. Many many thanks.

Answer
Thank you for your query. You may want to check for a historical series of the exchange rate.  You may not have a direct exchange rate and may need to use a third currency.  You may want to check the British Bureau of Statistics or a university's library to get the numbers. The World Bank has done studies with historic data. Usually monetary authorities with have a data base which would contain exchange rates.  and last, but not least, old newspapers may also help.  Let me know if I can be of further assistance. I do apologize if I didn't fully answer your question.

If I told you I didn't know, why did you rated me so low????
