Question Hi Robin. My friend and I are traveling in Ecuador for the month of August. We really want to stay in Puerto Lopez but want to avoid hotels, hostels, etc. Can you help with any information on how to find private houses or apartments for one month rentals? We'd like to spend no more than $1000. Would it be unwise to just show up in Puerto Lopez and look, without having reserved something first? Thanks!
Answer Good evening Carin,
As this is peak high season in terms of tourism in the area (mainly due to the presence of Humpback whales in the region) I would say that it is risky just to show up. If you were visiting this area anything between October through to May I would say you could just show up and arrange something on the fly.
Let me see what I can find out for you in terms of month rental options (this may take me a bit of time as this is area of expertise but will see what I can do for you!).
