Education Issues - Increase California State Spending on Higher Education

Expert: Dr. Widad Ashurax - 4/25/2004

Question
How are you?  If you were heading a group of Californians who wish to make sure that state spending on higher education will increase this year, how would you go about doing that?

Thank you in advance,
-=Cory Vilt

Answer
Dear Cory:

Here are some of my suggestions that may help:

1-Get  a letter out to the  higher education governing officials stating the  need for putting more money into higher education.
2- list the need for more research to make the state as a  leader in the research area of education.
3- List the need for more qualified professors to produce better graduates to help decrease unemployment problems.
4-List the need for more specialization within the same discipline for more efficiency and better outcome.
5-List the need for better textbooks to help improve the state  teaching methodology and to produce better employees in general.
6-List the need for teachers' exchange to help upgrade teaching in general and to bring in new ideas.
7- List the need for better and upgraded equipments and tools to help improve our higher eduction within the state (to produce better doctors, engineers, lawyers., administrators, managers...etc.)
8-and many more...
I am sure if the right idea is reached to the right official he/she will defend the spending principle.
