Experience Sure I know my country, where to go and where not to.. (like any other country), have some law education and IT as well
Question Hi Raul, just following through on the last email. You were asking where we were going. We are coming from Canada, through Central America and down to Ushuaia Argentina. Guatemala and Honduras are the border crossings we are wondering about. Do you suggest staying on the CA1 Hwy from San Cristobal instead of the Carreterra Littoral? We are pretty much just passing through unless there is something you suggest we shouldn't miss.
Also, are there any places we should avoid?
thanks again.

Answer Hi guys
Sorry for answering so late, but I got suddenly sick on Friday, I just hope this information is still useful for you.
Well first of all, when you arrive the border line, be specially careful with the Guatemalan side, they usually try to make you think that you need to pay someone else to do the paperwork, it´s ok to ask for advice and have a couple of opinions, but you can do the paperwork by yourselves.
If you still don´t know it, our currency are USD, so if you need to change from quetzales to USD, the best choice it to use “casas de cambio” or a bank, although not all of last ones offer you to change from quetzales to usd, now if you really need to change yours quetazales in the border line, be careful with faked bills!!
Now in the Salvadoran side you´d better no stop to anyone asking you to, unless of course the police. Most of the police men are honest, so don´t hesitate to ask them for any help,
Hotel and motels are not the same, you will find along the road many motels, but these venues are not used for resting but for couple who need to intimate, sure u can use them but are usually more expensive than hotels, hostales or Guest houses also called “casas de huespedes”.
Calling by phone. Well the most spread telephone company its telecom, you can buy a telephone card starting 3 USD at any store you find, most of the cabins are yellow and you find them all over the country
as you're coming through San Cristobal, the closest city its Santa Ana, here u can have some meals or find some nice commodities, I would suggest stay in the CA1, and in the way to Honduras you can take a quick tour through San Salvador, the capital, and later, back to the CA1 take the time to stay a few hours in La Palma in chalatenango, which is the mountain side of the country
Well, I have tried to give quick advice, but the country has lots of nice places to go in a small piece of land, depending of your interests, if you need any specific advice just ask me, my phone numbers are
